Free junk car removal from Hickory Hills garages, drives and lots
Can a car that won't run stay in my Hickory Hills driveway?
Only inside an enclosed garage. Hickory Hills code § 30.21(c) bars keeping an undrivable, stripped or disassembled car anywhere else on the property. Cash For Junk Cars Junk My Car Inc removes it for free instead: the tow costs nothing, no tow fee is deducted, and you are paid at pickup once the car is loaded.

The garage-or-gone rule
Hickory Hills leaves very little room for a car that won’t run. Section 30.21(c) of the city code bans keeping an undrivable, disassembled or stripped vehicle on any property unless it is inside an enclosed garage. A driveway, a side yard or the slab behind the house doesn’t count.
A car that still runs but has lapsed plates gets a little longer: § 30.21(b) allows a vehicle without current state registration to be kept for no more than seven days, again unless it is garaged. Once an inoperable car is in public view, § 30.21(d) treats it as a nuisance that can be towed after seven days under the Illinois Vehicle Code, and § 12.02 lists any abandoned vehicle as a public nuisance as well.
So the real choice for most owners is simple: clear a garage bay for a car that may never move again, or have it hauled away free and paid for. If you are still weighing a repair, our piece on whether an old car is worth fixing or junking helps put numbers on it.
Night and snow on city streets
Street parking is off the table for a dead car too. Section 41.17 bans parking any vehicle on any city street from 2:00 to 6:00 a.m., and the city’s resident page repeats the rule. Snow adds a second ban: once 2.5 inches has built up, nothing parks on the street until it has been cleared (§ 41.12). Streets being cleaned are closed to parking while the signs are up (§ 41.13).
Up and down the moraine
Hickory Hills sits on the Tinley Moraine, and the name fits: the ground is hilly. The city runs from the Palos forest preserves on the west to the Tri-State on the east, with 87th Street and 95th Street (US-12 and US-20) as the main east-west roads. Roberts Road, 88th Avenue and 76th Avenue carry traffic north and south. The Lewis University campus near 95th Street and Roberts Road is a handy landmark if you are giving the driver directions.
Apartments off 95th Street
About six in ten homes are detached houses, and roughly a quarter are in buildings of five or more units, by 2020 to 2024 census estimates. For an apartment pickup, let the manager know a tow truck is due and we load in the lot. The code mentions alleys just north of 95th Street, around 80th Court to 83rd Court; it keeps 10 feet of alley width clear and bans blocking driveways (§ 41.18), so tell us if the car is back there.
Papers we ask about
A signed title makes the sale straightforward. Without one, tell us what you can find (a bill of sale, a registration card, an insurance card). Illinois rules decide which of those work for a scrap sale, so we check your case on the call before the truck goes out. Then fill in the free quote form and expect a callback within 15 minutes.
Around the city line
Hickory Hills borders Palos Hills, Justice, Bridgeview and Willow Springs. Chicago Ridge is on the same run for our trucks. Our page on suburban Cook County pickups lays out the corridors, and the full town list covers Will County, DuPage and Indiana as well.
Year, make and model are enough to start an offer.

My car never had a Hickory Hills sticker. Does that hold up the sale?
No. The city doesn't sell stickers for ordinary passenger cars; § 37.02(b) exempts them unless the vehicle is used commercially. There is nothing to cancel or hand back. What matters for the sale is the paperwork for the car itself, and we go through that with you on the callback.
The car is parked on a gravel pad beside the house. Is that allowed?
Hickory Hills wants vehicles on paved surfaces only, and stone driveways are prohibited, though an existing one at a single-family home can stay until a year after the house is sold (§ 30.21(a)). A dead car sitting outside also runs into the garage-only rule. Tell us where it sits and the driver loads it from there or from the street.
It died on the street at night. Will you come before 2 a.m.?
Our trucks run from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, so a late breakdown usually means a morning pickup. The 2:00 to 6:00 a.m. street ban in § 41.17 covers every vehicle, running or not, so push it into a driveway or lot if you can, then send the form, since a pickup on the same day is often doable.
