The county south of our base

Will County is one of the five collar counties around Chicago, with 696,355 people at the 2020 census. That makes it the fourth most populous county in Illinois. Joliet is the county seat. For us it starts just south of Orland Hills: cross I-80 at La Grange Road and you’re in Mokena.

The county is big and mixed, from older river towns to newer subdivisions and open farmland in the south. Every town named below has its own pickup page with its parking and dead-car rules; the four closest to our base come first.

The four towns closest to Orland Hills

  • Mokena: I-80 along the north edge, La Grange and Wolf roads, two Metra Rock Island stations, and a 7-day clock once a dead car gets a notice.
  • Frankfort: where La Grange Road and Lincoln Highway cross, with no-parking stretches on both and a 30-day limit for junked cars on private property.
  • New Lenox: the I-80 and I-355 junction, Maple Street, Cedar, Gougar and Nelson roads, plus Manhattan to the south.
  • Lockport: the river city on State Street and 159th Street, with a 3 to 6 a.m. street-parking ban, a 24-hour limit on parked cars and a one-month cap on open storage of cars awaiting repair on nonresidential lots (see car stuck at a repair shop).

The rest of the county, by direction

Joliet and the I-80 corridor. Joliet is the third most populous city in Illinois, and locals talk about it as a west side and an east side, split by the Des Plaines River. I-55 and I-80 both cross it, along with US 6, US 30 and US 52. We pick up across Joliet; give us the nearest exit or cross street.

Homer Glen. Between Lockport and Mokena, Homer Glen is policed by the Will County Sheriff’s Office rather than a village department. The I-355 ramps at 159th Street and at Archer Avenue are the quick way in.

Manhattan. South of New Lenox on US 52, at the end of Metra’s SouthWest Service. It used to share the New Lenox page and now has its own.

Monee and University Park. Both sit along Governors Highway (IL 50) by I-57. Monee is reached from exit 335, and University Park from exit 337 at Stuenkel Road, where the Metra Electric line ends.

Crete, Steger and Beecher. Down the Dixie Highway side, Illinois Route 1 runs through all three. In Crete it’s Main Street, in Steger it’s Chicago Road (and the Cook and Will county line crosses inside the village), and Beecher sits farther south on the old Dixie Highway route.

Wilton and Frankfort Square. Wilton Township is rural, south of Manhattan along US 52 and Cedar Road. Frankfort Square is the unincorporated area just north of Frankfort.

What the roads mean for a pickup

Four interstates (I-55, I-57, I-80 and I-355) and four U.S. highways (6, 30, 45 and 52) cross the county, and Pace runs bus service in the county. Rivers matter as much as roads: the Des Plaines, Du Page and Kankakee rivers and the Illinois and Michigan Canal all cross Will County, and a car on the far side of a river can need a different bridge than the map suggests. A cross street is the most useful thing you can tell us.

Papers for a Will County sale

Will County is in Illinois, so Illinois title rules apply. Sign over the title if you have it. If you don’t, list the papers you do have (registration, insurance card, bill of sale) and we’ll confirm on the call whether they’re enough for a scrap sale. For towns north of the county line, see our page on suburban Cook County pickups; for the far north edge, the DuPage County page; or go back to the full map of towns we serve. When you’re ready, the offer form gets a callback within 15 minutes.

Will County towns with their own pickup page

We have 13 town pages in Will County. The areas we serve page lists every one with a line on what sets it apart, under Will County.

Year, make and model are enough to start an offer.

Questions about Will County pickups

How far into Will County do you go?

We cover the Will County suburbs: the I-80 towns from Joliet to Frankfort, Lockport and Homer Glen up north, and Monee, University Park, Crete and Steger toward the east. For a rural address farther south, send the details and we'll tell you on the call.

I'm in Homer Glen. Is that you?

Yes. Homer Glen is between Lockport and Mokena, and the Will County Sheriff's Office handles policing there. It has its own pickup page, and removal works the same as anywhere: send the car details, take the offer if it suits you, and get paid when we load.

Do Will County villages have the same parking rules?

No. Snow bans start at different depths (Mokena, Frankfort and New Lenox at 2 inches, Manhattan at 1 inch), and time limits for dead cars differ too. The town pages list each village's rules.
