Two ways out under Chapter 12
Bedford Park’s code gives a junked car two exits: a closed garage, or the village line. Under 9-12-1, storing an old, unused, stripped or junked car outside for five days or more, if it isn’t in safe operating condition, is a nuisance whether it is licensed or not. Non-emergency repairs outside a fully enclosed building in the residential section count as a nuisance too.
Section 9-12-2 spells out the fix: the lot owner, the tenants and the car’s owner must move it into a fully enclosed building or out of the village. Each day is a separate offense (9-12-3), and if nobody acts, the village removes the car, bills the owners and may sell it (9-12-4). Out of the village is the part we handle, and the tow is free.
A small village among big plants
Wikipedia calls Bedford Park an industrial suburb, with a small residential area and heavy industry sprawling to the east and a little to the west. The 2020 census counted 602 residents. Of about 200 occupied homes, nearly all are detached houses and 85.1% are owner-occupied. The Ingredion plant and the Institute for Food Safety and Health beside it are the landmarks most drivers know.
So a pickup here may be a house driveway or a company lot. On business property, the person selling has to own the vehicle and arrange access; tell us the gate and any hours it is locked.
Streets closed to parking
In the industrial core, parking is banned on every street inside the area bounded by Cicero Avenue, Harlem Avenue, 65th Street and 77th Street, apart from listed 30-minute spots for second-division vehicles (10-12-17(A)). Cicero Avenue from 65th to 67th Street is closed to parking as well, and no semitrailer or garbage container may be left on any street. A car that dies on one of those streets can’t wait there for a buyer, so call as soon as it stops.
In the residential section, after 2 inches of snow, no parking from 9 a.m. to noon unless the street has been plowed; elsewhere, no parking at all after 2 inches until plowing is done (10-12-23). Alleys need 10 feet left clear and no driveway blocked (10-12-7), and a street closes while it is being cleaned (10-12-4).
Roads in
I-55 runs inside the village limits, and Archer Road (IL-171), Harlem Avenue (IL-43), Cicero Avenue (IL-50) and 79th Street all cross it. Pace buses serve the village. Bedford Park is farther from our Orland Hills base than the south suburbs, so a call early in the day gives the best chance of same-day removal.
North of Burbank, next to Bridgeview
Bedford Park lies north of Burbank and borders Bridgeview, with Justice as another neighbour. Summit is just north, and Hickory Hills sits beyond Justice and Bridgeview. The Cook County hub and the areas we cover list more.
Illinois paperwork
With a title in your name, you sign it at pickup. With no title, tell us what you have (registration, bill of sale, insurance card) and we confirm on the call what Illinois allows for scrapping your car. Get your offer, and see how a sale runs step by step.
Year, make and model are enough to start an offer.

Someone left a dead car on our company lot. Can we sell it to you?
No, only the vehicle's owner can sell it. Bedford Park's code bars parking on private property without the owner's consent (10-12-9), and police may order such vehicles towed, so the police are the people to call. If the car belongs to your company, that's different: we make an offer and tow it free.
We have several dead work trucks in the yard. Is that one visit?
It can be. One visit can take several vehicles, and each gets its own offer. Send the year, make and condition of each, plus the gate you want us to use and the hours the yard is open. We buy junk trucks and vans as well as cars, running or not.
