The channel decides the route
Alsip is cut in two by water. Most of the village lies north of the Cal-Sag Channel, and the Chippewa Ridge subdivision, built on what used to be the Alsip Nursery, sits on the southwest bank. Two houses can share the 60803 ZIP code and still need different approaches, so the first thing we ask is which side of the channel the car is on.
After that the roads do the work. The Tri-State (I-294) runs inside village limits, and its link to Cicero Avenue goes through 127th Street, which carries IL-83 here. Cicero is IL-50, and the two routes share it for a stretch. North of the channel, Pulaski Road, Kedzie Avenue, Ridgeland Avenue and 111th Street fill in the grid. Coming up from the south, Cicero crosses the Little Calumet River out of Crestwood before it reaches Alsip, a natural way in for trucks from Orland Hills.
Seven days under Article III
Alsip’s code has little patience for a car that can’t move. Section 19-42 calls a vehicle abandoned when it has no current licence or is wrecked, dismantled, inoperative or junked, and also when its engine, wheels or other parts have been off for seven days or more. Under § 19-43, a car that fits that description is a nuisance on public and private property alike.
The clocks that follow are short. In a residential district such a car belongs in a garage (§ 19-44). It can’t stay in public view for more than seven days (§ 19-45), and a car in major disassembly gets the same seven days on residential property (§ 19-46). Seven days after a warning, police may enter the property and haul it away, and the property owner pays for that removal (§ 19-49). Our tow costs nothing, and you leave with money instead of a bill.
Apartment lots, driveways and the decal rule
About half of Alsip’s homes are detached houses, and roughly a third are in buildings of five or more units, according to 2020 to 2024 census estimates. At a house, we load from the drive or the curb. At an apartment or condo, tell the manager a flatbed is coming and we load in the lot.
Commercial lots carry an extra rule. Under § 19-106, lots at shopping centres, churches, schools and industrial sites can ban overnight parking without the owner’s decal, where the owner has signed up for village enforcement. Alsip’s industry includes Griffith Laboratories’ international headquarters and a Coca-Cola bottling plant. If your car quit in a workplace or store lot, say so on the free removal request and we plan the pickup around it.
Papers for an Alsip sale
The title is the easy path: you sign it to us once the car is on the truck. If it has gone missing, list what you still hold, such as the registration, an insurance card or an old bill of sale. Illinois rules decide which of those can carry a scrap sale, and we tell you on the phone, before a truck is booked, rather than at the curb. Our guide to selling without a title covers the details.
Payment happens at pickup, by Zelle, Cash App or cash, and the offer stays open if you need a few days to think.
East of the village line
Three towns on our map line Alsip’s east side, north to south: Merrionette Park, Blue Island and Robbins. Worth and Palos Heights border it on the west, Oak Lawn on the north, and Chicago’s Mount Greenwood neighbourhood wraps the north and east. Our Cook County page groups these suburbs by the roads that connect them, and the areas we serve list has every town the trucks reach.
Year, make and model are enough to start an offer.

My car is in Chippewa Ridge, across the channel. Is the tow still free?
Yes. Chippewa Ridge is part of Alsip even though it sits southwest of the Cal-Sag, on the old Alsip Nursery land, and the tow there costs you nothing, same as north of the water. Give us the street and the nearest cross street on the form so the driver picks the right bridge, and the offer you accept is the amount you get.
Can the car wait on the lawn until the truck comes?
Better not. Alsip's code lets vehicles in residential districts park only on the street, a marked driveway or in a garage, never on front, side or rear yards (§ 19-48). A car that won't run is also supposed to be garaged (§ 19-44). If you can push it onto the drive, do; if not, tell us where it is and the driver works out the load.
It snowed and the dead car is on the street. What now?
Primary snow routes are off limits for 12 hours after an inch of snow, other streets for 24 hours after three inches, and police may tow cars that block plowing after three inches (§ 19-91). Ask for a pickup as soon as you can. Same-day removal is often possible, and it is cheaper than a police tow.
