Lynwood junk car removal, where Lincoln Highway meets Indiana
Can you tow a junk car out of a Lynwood mobile home park?
Yes. Nearly a quarter of Lynwood homes are mobile homes, and Cash For Junk Cars Junk My Car Inc collects junk cars from those parks, from subdivisions and from farm lots, all for free. Let the park office know a tow truck is coming, tell us the lot number, and you are paid at pickup by Zelle, Cash App or cash.

Two state routes end here
Lynwood is where Illinois runs out of road. US 30, the Lincoln Highway, reaches its eastern Illinois end at the Indiana line inside the village, and IL 83 starts here too: its southern end is at US 30, from where it follows Glenwood-Dyer Road and then Torrence Avenue north into Lansing. The Torrence and Glenwood-Dyer junction is in Lynwood, and IL 394, the Calumet Expressway, crosses Glenwood-Dyer Road inside the village.
For the driver, that means a pickup almost always starts from US 30, Glenwood-Dyer or Torrence. Parking is banned along part of US 30 in the village (§102-247), so if the car has stopped on Lincoln Highway, tell us exactly where and we will plan the stop around it.
Parks, subdivisions and farmland
The village was founded in 1959 and still has a lot of farmland between its suburban streets. Its housing is unusual for Cook County: 53.9% detached houses and 22.7% mobile homes, and the code gives manufactured homes and trailers a chapter of their own (Ch. 66). Three in four homes are owner-occupied.
So pickups here come in three kinds. In a mobile home park, the office or manager should know a tow truck is coming, and the driver needs the lot number. In a subdivision, the drive is the easy spot. On a rural lot, a car parked well back from the road is fine; just tell us whether the ground is firm enough for a flatbed and whether the car rolls.
Ten days, unless nobody can see it
Lynwood’s nuisance rule is § 86-121. A partially dismantled, wrecked, junked, discarded or nonoperating vehicle may not remain on any property for more than 10 days. The exemptions are narrow: inside an enclosed building, or somewhere not readily visible from public places or neighbouring property, plus lawful non-residential businesses and public storage. On a mobile home lot or an open farm drive, “not readily visible” is hard to claim.
Ten days is enough to sell if you start early. Send the details and we call back within 15 minutes. Our page on what free pickup includes explains the visit itself.
Night, snow and resident-only blocks
From 2:00 to 6:00 a.m., nothing may park on any street, alley or public way (§102-246(1)). When snow on the street passes 2 inches, parking is cut to 3-minute passenger stops and 30-minute loading from the start of the snowfall until 8 hours after it ends, and through plowing (§102-248). Signed resident-only zones need a decal or visitor placard, and the night and snow rules still apply on top (§102-249).
Lynwood also requires a village licence for vehicles owned, housed or registered there, within 30 days of moving in (§102-79), which is one more cost for a car that is going nowhere.
Papers on the Illinois side
A car in Lynwood is sold under Illinois rules, even with Indiana next door. Hand over the title if you have it. If not, list what you do have and we confirm on the phone whether Illinois accepts it for a scrap sale. Across the line, Munster works under Indiana’s own rule.
Lansing to the north, Munster to the east
Lansing borders the village on the north, Glenwood on the west, and Ford Heights and Sauk Village on the south. Dyer, Indiana is east, and Munster’s western edge meets both Lynwood and Lansing at the state line. See our Cook County page and the full service map.
Year, make and model are enough to start an offer.

I put a for-sale sign on the car. Where is it allowed to sit?
Lynwood is strict here. Section 102-246 keeps for-sale vehicles off vacant lots, unpaved ground and the public way, and the car has to be licensed. A non-runner with lapsed plates at the roadside fails on two counts. Move it to a paved drive, or skip the private-sale wait and ask us for an offer that doesn't expire.
The car died in the lot of a closed business. Is it allowed to wait there for the truck?
It shouldn't. The same section bans parking on vacant lots or at closed businesses, and on commercial property overnight unless the car has a tie to the business. Get the lot owner's agreement for the pickup, then send us the address and where the car sits. The driver loads it and you're paid on the spot.
My address is 60411. Which village's rules apply to me?
ZIP 60411 is shared by Lynwood, Sauk Village and Ford Heights, so the postcode alone doesn't settle it. The village you're physically in sets the parking and nuisance rules. For the pickup itself it makes no difference: give us the street address, and the tow is free in all three.
