Junk car removal in Oak Brook, from cul-de-sac to corporate lot
Can you collect a junk car from an Oak Brook office park or condo garage?
Yes. Cash For Junk Cars Junk My Car Inc can load a dead car from an office park, a condo garage or a home driveway anywhere in Oak Brook, once the property manager or association allows access. The tow is free and payment happens at pickup. DuPage is the edge of our map, so the day is set on the call.

Seven days, then the police
Oak Brook’s rule for a car that has stopped moving is short. Title 6, Chapter 4 calls a vehicle abandoned when it is in such disrepair that it can’t be driven, or when it hasn’t been moved or used for 7 days in a row and looks deserted (6-4-1). No abandoned vehicle may stay on any property longer than 7 days unless it is inside an enclosed building or at a lawful business that needs it (6-4-3). Under 6-4-4, Oak Brook police can remove and impound any car that looks to be in breach of that chapter.
There’s a licence rule as well. Leaving a car, truck, trailer or major parts on open premises without a current Illinois or other state licence is unlawful (6-4-2). So a car with expired plates on the driveway is a problem even if it still runs.
Head offices, a mall and quiet subdivisions
The village began as Fullersburg and incorporated in 1958, largely through Paul Butler. Most of it is residential subdivisions, while Oakbrook Center and the offices along 22nd Street and the I-88 corridor fill the north end. Ace Hardware, Portillo’s and Lions Clubs International all have their head offices here.
At home, 80.1% of units are detached houses and 91.1% of occupied homes are owner-occupied, so most pickups are from a private drive or garage. A car that died in an office or retail lot can be collected too: get the property manager’s agreement, then tell us the building and the row.
Tollway interchanges and Kingery Highway
Two tollways cross Oak Brook. I-294 (the Tri-State) meets I-88 (the Reagan) inside the village at I-88 exit 138. Kingery Highway (IL-83) has its 31st Street and Oak Brook Road interchange here. Butterfield Road (IL-56) leaves its mainline in Oak Brook, where straight-through traffic becomes 22nd Street, and meets Meyers Road. Roosevelt Road (IL-38) has its eastbound ramp junction with I-290 in the village too.
All of that makes the drive in simple, but not short. Our trucks set out from Orland Hills, and DuPage is the outer edge of where they run, so an Oak Brook removal is booked on request with the timing confirmed when we call you back. Send the car’s details on the quote form and expect that call within 15 minutes.
Overnight on village streets
Oak Brook bans parking on every village street from 2 to 6 a.m., every day, for police protection, street cleaning, and leaf and snow removal (7-1-1314). It also bars parking on a street to show a car for sale (7-1-1317). A dead car at the curb has nowhere to go but the driveway, and the driveway has the 7-day and licence rules above.
Paperwork for an Oak Brook sale
A signed Illinois title, handed over at the truck, completes the paperwork. Without it, list what you do have (registration, an insurance card, a bill of sale) and we’ll say on the call whether Illinois accepts those for a scrap sale with your car. The steps of a junk car sale are set out in our guide. Payment is made at pickup by Zelle, Cash App, cash or another digital payment, and the tow is not taken off the price.
Westmont, La Grange and the rest
Westmont lies to the southwest, with Downers Grove to the west, Clarendon Hills to the south and Hinsdale to the southeast. Head south on Kingery Highway and you reach Willowbrook at I-55. Take the Tri-State south instead and, after the Ogden Avenue interchange in Hinsdale, it meets I-55 at Indian Head Park. From that interchange, Ogden Avenue heads east toward La Grange. Part of Oak Brook is in Cook County’s Proviso Township, but we list it with our DuPage County pickups. For everything else, see the areas we serve.
Year, make and model are enough to start an offer.

The plates on my old car lapsed. Can it stay on the driveway?
Not under 6-4-2. Oak Brook makes it unlawful to leave a car, truck, trailer or major parts on open premises unless the vehicle is currently licensed in Illinois or another state. A garage keeps it out of that rule; a driveway doesn't. Lapsed plates don't stop a sale to us, and we'll go through your papers on the call.
Could a friend fix it in the parking area of my building?
Zoning section 13-12-3(M) bars vehicle repair work in off-street parking areas, except in an emergency. A big repair belongs in a shop. If the shop's estimate is more than the car is worth to you, compare it with our offer, which doesn't expire.
How soon can a truck get to Oak Brook?
That gets settled on the call, not before it. The trucks leave from Orland Hills and Oak Brook is near the outer limit of where they run, so we look at the bookings and offer a day that works. If you need the car gone by a set date, for example because of a village notice, tell us the date up front. The offer stays the same whichever day we come.
